Ring in the New Year!

Lets be real 2011 wasn't the best year for me and my family. There was lots of good things :) but thinking back on it the majority of things that stick out in my mind are not good. SOOO I'm hoping for 2012 to be better, with a few more lows and a lot more highs.

Some new year resolutions for me this year:
  • Not to hit all my insurance premiums
  • To finally get rid of my annoying shiz (No more blow and go, woot woot)
  • Be a better wife/friend/sister/daughter/aunt etc (Just better in general, I'm thinking being less selfish falls under this one)
  • Be more productive, if that means a craft a day so be it.
  • Make 365 newborn hats! (Need to get started on this one ASAP)

Feeling old

Remember how I have been out of high school 6 years? I sometimes feel like it has been ... 2 years maybe. I still pretend that I have tooons of time to do whatever I want before I have to grow up. Well news flash I am grown up. Anyway, that was kind of a tangent. What I wanted to say was yesterday my awesome friend Zoie and I went to watch her sister play basketball in this tournament they had going on at  my alma matre and walking in the gym brought back some memories! It was so fun to sit and reminisce about all those fun times, remember playing sports, meeting up with all my friends in certain spots (Yeah I was one of those people.),  there was even a couple pictures of me in the showcase still! Oh how I miss high school. I miss the days that I could play an entire basketball game without feeling like I was going to die. Or seeing tons of people that I just love/ it was even fun to see some of the people I didn't love just because, I miss most of my teachers, I miss the days where I had stuff going on all day everyday. But for every good thing I miss about high school I have a good thing to like about being an adult. So for now I'll just be a grown up :)

But I before I leave I gotta say it ..... AAAAHHHH CV!

Were you a high school lover? Or a high school hater? My husbands a hater!  Can you believe it? Its hard for me to wrap my head around because really I loved high school so much, maybe I've just blocked the bad things out of my memory.

Christmas Time-

So this Christmas I really wanted to do something for somebody else. Don't get me wrong its fun to go shopping for my husband and spoil him with gifts but we have a tendency to spoil ourselves year round so its not as special for us on December 25th.

Instead this year I thought of something that has meant a lot to me a newborn's hat. It may not seem like much but I know for me and my husband something as simple as a little hat meant a lot for us. Hopefully my gift will bring some joy to the families that have little ones at the IHC here in Cedar.

As for me this may become my new favorite hobby, I have been given tons of yarn and so I plan to use it all to make many more hats. I'm thinking the next time I donate will be for my birthday so if anybody wants to make some too that would be awesome! You have four months :)

3 months old!

So Koda is 3 months old and we took him to get his shots today.
He did so good, there were tons of other dogs and even a couple of cats at the vet and he did really good considering he is not use to being around other dogs. Also I found out a little bit of info about this pup because we took him to the same vet where he was born. Anyway there were pictures of all of the puppies of the litter and Koda is by far the cutest one and definetly the runt. Also apparently Koda almost didn't make it. He had to have CPR done on him and they were lucky he finally started breathing on his own.

I'm glad we decided to get him that day, even though it was really spontaneous. He is growing so fast and I'm going to miss how cute he is as a little puppy.

Lousy neighbors

I know you don't get to pick your neighbors but if only....
We have lived here for over a year and I'm pretty sure I only know two maybe three of my neighbors names. I do know atleast one of my neighbors and their pets! For example one day when I got home from work, this "said" neighbor was checking the mail (conveniently the community mailbox is in our yard) well he had his dog with him and he let him do his business right there on our lawn, right in front of me! And I'm not really the kind of person that will say anything and he didn't say anything either so instead I just vented about it to my husband. Also this lovely neighbor has a cat that just roams around and has decided that the sandbox in our backyard is its own personal litterbox! It brings its dead birds and all its fun little cat finds and delivers them to the box. So we got rid of the sandbox, but the cat still comes around. Well, what really sparked this rant was that yesterday we found a nice huge pile of cat vomit that I am completely convinced came from this same stupid cat. To make matters worse I have a curious little puppy now that thinks he needs to eat everything left behind! All I can say is I wish I had a bb gun and I wish that neighbors would be a little more considerate/responsible.
Also I'm sorry if you have to listen to my puppy whine when I leave him in the backyard while I'm at work. We're working on it.

Concert Fever

So this is mostly for my mom, she doesn't have a blog of her own but she said "if I had a blog..." So I thought I'd blog it for her. Especially since I can witness for her.
Last night we went to a David Cook concert. You are all familiar with him right? American Idol winner season 7. He beat out David Archuletta in the final round. (Who ironically was playing right here in my hometown last night) Anyway we (My mom, her David Cook loving friend, and I) ventured down to Las Vegas to see David Cook. We got there really early so we were sure to get a good spot. We waiting for hours because we showed up so early, then we waited in line for hours. Let me tell you what the line up was. Doors were to open to General Admission at 7 concert was to start at 8. David Cook however wasn't scheduled to be on stage until 9:45 and he was set to play for 45 minutes. Worth it? I don't know but for my moms friend it definitely was so we endured it with her.

Turns out David Cook is really quite rude, first of all he was a few minutes late getting on stage but thats forgivable. The first thing he said when he did get up there was, "lets get this over with I have a black jack table waiting for me." Which caught a few laughs but I found a little rude and then the rest of his set he was patronizing his crowd. The fans that make him  his living, the living he CHOSE to do. Now to give a little more information it was his last show of the year, and I'm sure he was extremely tired and ready for it to be over but thats no excuse to be rude to the people who make you who you are. Also take a shower! Wash your hair! Don't chomp on your gum the entire show! Don't start singing a song then stop half way and start laughing, to admit to the crowd your having an off night. We can tell. And yes it was a small venue with not that many people in attendance but if you didn't want to do the show say no. And that is all Mr. Cook you lost a fan, however thankfully you had some awesome opening acts that made up for me waiting around crowded Las Vegas to see you.

I will say one good thing about him though, he does sound really good live, just as good as he does on his albums. So if you ever find yourself wanting to go to see him live forget that just put in his CD and listen to that it's a much better show.

MUSIC!

I'm going to go on a little bit of a rant about music now....
I love it, I can't get enough of it :) :) :)
All kinds, techno-classic-rock-rap-country-classic ANYTHING!
Any song that I can put on repeat and sing along EVERY time is a good one.
Any song that I can listen to and just can't help but SMILE is a good one.
Any movie even the crappy ones can be saved by its soundtrack!
Any song that I listen to and it MAKES me dance is a good one.
I love that music can just bring back memories like nothing else can.
I love having it at my fingertips!
So in short I love music, and I can't get enough of it!

"I'm in love I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!"
(that was my Christmas plug... Name that movie)

Work Work Work ...

Finally, the down hill slope of the week! Woot woot.

This week I have decided to be more of an active employee. At first I was holding a little grudge because my superiors don't really know how to be superiors. So I decided to say "stick it" in my own way and kind of did my job half-assed well actually thats a lie. Only half of my job I did half-assed the other half I do excellent if I do say so myself. (But we won't get into all of that right now.) Anyway, with the temperatures so cold we have been forced to stay inside. Which isn't great for me. (Pray for 40's everyone!) So long story short I have 30, 5 year olds for an hour and a half each day... to protect and serve. Just throw them in a gym let them play tag right??? Wrong: choir meets in the gym. Okay throw them in one of their classrooms and let them play with the activities in there. Wrong: the teachers apparently get a little peeved when I let them use their things.
So me with my teaching degree and my many years of practice with kids get to entertain. Wrong AGAIN: I have no clue what I'm doing and can I just say 30 kids are overwhelming! But I just wanted to do a little bragging because I had an awesome day and only two kids got bored the whole time! (and that was just in the last couple of minutes.)

However, that was one day and I'm pretty sure I can't do the same thing with them every day and not have them get bored. SOO I need ideas on how to keep them busy I'm talking the WHOLE time because you give them any time to think and they get all crazy and once you lose them there is no turning back. And keep in mind any ideas pitched my way need to involve me not providing any materials of my own because I'm not that nice of a person AND I don't have any money for that kind of crap.

Happy December!

I decided I needed a more positive posting habit. And when better to that than on December 1st? Let the countdown to Christmas begin :) I'm so glad it snowed how perfect, I was starting to wonder if it ever would. I may even throw up a few decorations up today, we'll see. I do have one up of course... My advent calender. So, today I plan to drink hot cocoa maybe watch a Christmas movie, and slowly decorate my home with the few Christmas things I have. Who knows maybe I'll hop on pinterest and find some new things to create.

Shoo fly don't bother me

I hate being on bedrest it turns me into a witch. I have been in one of the nastiest moods lately. AAAAHHHH! Can I just tell you about our, well just my dinner fiasco.

Loving helpful husband: "What would you like for dinner?"
Me: "I don't care."
Lhh: "Would you like me to make you something or bring something home?"
Me: "I. don't.care."
Lhh: "Well what sounds good?"
Me: "I don't care."
Lhh: "Okay I'll surprise you."
Me: "K"

So he comes home with nothing else but the loveable KFC. When the aroma sifts throughout the kitchen I start getting a little excited (first time all week) MMM who doesn't like KFC right?
Well I don't like gnawing meat off a bone I like he boneless tender stuff. And those biscuits and gravy Mmmmm :) Anyway apparently my husband doesn't know me that well because he brought me some bone in chicken (I can deal with that I guess) Then I get ready to dip it into my mashed potatoes but instead I have nasty potato wedges. Why does KFC even make those?

Anway I denied dinner and made myself a cup of water and ritz I'll just have to be self relient. less let down right??
Also pay attention to the people you live with... do they ALWAYS order mashed potatoes and gravy or do they ALWAYS order them?

Yes I realize that whole blog was about food but I really haven't had a lot going on this week and it has sucked I don't like being sick or feeling "down" I'm not complaining about having some downtime just uncomfortable downtime is what really gets me. But when I'm out and about again I'm going to be more attentive it comes in handy.

Steady as she blows...

Today I went swimming for the first time in a while. Sorry let me rephrase that, lap swimming.  Anway I went with my brother, who doesn't exersise (atleast to my knowledge) and who also smokes. Well can I just say I got owned. He was out swimming me, going further, tons faster, it was really a kick in the lady balls. I got to get my butt in gear. I don't like getting showed up like that! So my end of year resolution: get back in some sort of shape. :) Jillian once a week just isn't cutting it anymore.

Also you know that episode of Friends where Monica's hair meets humidity?? You all know the one. I learned a little something about myself today. Monica's hair is to humidity as my hair is to wind.

No I did not snap any pics you will have to use your own imagination on this one.

Some quick updates:
  • We took our puppy on his first walk. (Is that equal to a baby taking his first steps?)
  • Second night of puppy training almost exactly the same... Horrible. He whines and cries and howls and wimpers and cries. Until my husband finally gives in and cuddles with him and totally reverses everything we have worked for!
  • Day time puppy training... Awesome! He's really getting the hang of things so I'm very hopeful for tonight, wish us luck. Highlight of the day he sat in the kennel without crying, with the door open for a good 40 minutes :)
  • It is Friday! Well technically Thursday night but close enough and I swear its been the longest week ever.... So glad for the weekend with absolutely nothing planned.
  • Today I was tortured slightly. It was Thanksgiving lunch so I had to sit and watch hundreds of kids feasting while I sat and listened to my empty stomach grumble! Oh well though there is only a week until the real Turkey Day :)

This is Koda on his first walk! But apparently we went a little too far, or maybe there was just way too much going on, because he sat down and refused to go anymore so Bobby had to carry him for a little while....He's one spoiled puppy.

Get Ready!

Did you know November is National adoption month? Well it is so I thought I'd jump on board.
I'd like you to meet the newest member of the family!

Do I love dogs? No, do I even really like dogs? No. BUT I do love this little guy. Its mostly because he makes my husband so GD happy, which makes me happy. It is going to be fun to learn how to train him ... wait did I say fun??? I meant Hell. Last night was a looong night. You see hes a 1/2 malamute 1/4 siberian husky and about 1/4 wolf. But if you ask me he looks more like a wolf and acts more like a malamute. Which means: he's very calm and he howls. Especially last night, his first time being away from his 10 siblilngs... Understandable but still not very fun for me. Luckily I have an awesome husband who does the early morning wake up calls :) We are slowly getting him trained and I can't wait to take him out on walks and runs and show off this studly dog of ours.

What a day-

Today is Gratituesday, and well its been one of those days. You know the kind, where you just started off in a bad mood and then everything is going wrong, which makes you more negative, and round and round. However in lieu of the day I will tell you what I AM grateful for today:
  • My lovely husband is a.maze.ing!
  • I am grateful that I got my house cleaned yesterday
  • I'm grateful work is over for the day
  • I'm grateful for crafts I have been crafting like crazy lately (Thanks Pinterest)
So I thought I would show you a couple of the cuter things I have made... And some of the other things I cannot post on here because they are Christmas gifts! Wouldn't want to waste a good surprise.

This is a cute little calender that you write on with a marker and just erase it every week... I saw it on pinterest and luckily I had one of these frames kickin' around so it was free to make!

Got this calender idea here

And I love the holidays so I'm getting ready early. (Sorry I couldn't rotate the picture) A muffin tin advent calender! The funnest part of this project was coming up with fun activities to have everyday.

This advent calender was sparked from this

And this is my neice! Photography idea taken from this blog
I know a little weird but I think its real cute, I mean look at her little feet!

I'm excited for the next week of crafting I have lots of things planned so we'll see how much of it I can get done. :)

Men will be boys. (Is that right?)

How long will it take me to get use to this time change! Its only 7 and I feel like its 11:30! Well, I had the least productive day today, and so I had to leave the house atleast for a little bit. Since I had some coupons burning a whole in my pocket I thought I'd use them up. Its fun to try couponing but I'm waiting for the day the store pays me! That would be sooo awesome. So this week my husband has been feeling sick, he's been home for the past couple of days. :( But I think he's feeling better because when I got home I found this sitting in the sink. I love him, my curious little husband, so much :)

11.11.11

Well if you didn't know already today is Cedar City's birthday! So shout out to Cedar, the land that I love. I was born here and I'm pretty sure I'll die here.

Anway what I came to post about was this awesome 5 year old's words of wisdom. (well I'm sure he got it from his mama because thats where all kids information comes from right?)
Today while I was policing the playground, being a friday there were LOTS of whining/complaining/tattling etc. Lucky for me one of the kids was "helping me out" Everytime somebody came to tattle my little "helper" would say "THATS A KID-SIZED PROBLEM" and when they asked him what that meant, he would tell them it means: "solve it yourself" hahaha

Gratituesday again...

So its already Tuesday, and Can I just say I'm grateful Monday is over. It started off being a pretty lousy week. But today is a new day :) And here are some things I'm grateful today...
  • The snow. I decided I'm ready for the holidays to be here.
  • Its gift giving time, I love trying to find "perfect/surprise" gifts for people
  • Im comtemplating getting a puppy. Who doesn't want a puppy for Christmas? (talk me out of this someone!)
  • I don't work my second job the rest of this week
  • Donated yarn, so my crafting didn't have to come to a halt
  • Nyquil it really works miracles... I'm just hoping it can work faster
  • My husband and the fact that he is so sweet to me, he made me dinner in bed last night... Ramen.(this could be because I was trying to go to bed at 7... but thats a whole different story)
  • No more scraping ice off the windows... We cleaned out the garage and I can park in there now!
  • Boys Basketball tonight :) Go T-Birds. (Who needs the stinkin' NBA?)
Thats all for now, I'm really hoping I can have a better day at work today and I'm also hoping that it goes by SUPER fast.

Fahion mishap

Lately I have been really into clothes shopping, and for any of you that know me, realize this is a big deal. I have never liked shopping! But I've just been expanding my horizons I guess. Anyway one thing I found and I loved was a cute little sweater dress. I thought why not pair it up with some leggings (cause they are really in right now... right?) Well I wore my new outfit yesterday.
Only to see...

My 11 year old neice was in the same outfit! Down to the same shoe! Hmmmm either she is advanced for her years or I'm shopping in the wrong department.

Anxious?

I have a meeting with this in the morning,

Yikes. Just sayin'.

2 Gratituesday

So I'm still calling this post Gratituesday even though it is now Wednesday. I guess I was busy yesterday.
Today I am especially grateful for my health. I know I whine and complain about all the stupid tests and all the stupid bumps and bruises I get. But overall I am pretty healthy and I am very grateful. I need to remember it could be much worse. So this week when I get stuck parking at the very end of the parking lot at work. Or when I have to make a hundred trips uptown because I always forget something. Or when I have to cook dinner and clean the bathrooms again. I will not complain because atleast I'm healthy enough to be doing ALL of those things. :)

Ghost Town!

As Halloween is just around the corner Bobby and I thought, what better to do than visit some local ghost towns. Todays stop: Frisco, Utah! Said to be the "wildest" town in utah back in the day. Home to 6,000 westerners in the late 1800s.

Maybe when we get more brave we will visit this place at night... we shall see.

Hopefully you guys all have a great halloween weekend.

You know whats creppy?

So I spent a lovely weekend with my husband. Anniversaries are the best. We stayed in a hojo, walked around the temple grounds, ate some good grub, played some golf! And did some aimless window shopping where we went to a comic book store, and two different hobby shops! (Yeah we're classy) Anway when we were wasting time window shopping  all I can think is "How Creepy!" And one of the things I ran across I need to share with you:

(Calender called 6-pack 9-lives)

Seriously?! Creepy there is a line people...

Today...

I probably shouldn't:
  • Go four-wheeling in the forrest on opening day of the rifle hunt
  • Get on pinterest two hours before I need to be somewhere (100% addicted)
  • Stay up late watching a semi-scary movie and expect to sleep

What I should do:
  • Get ready for my hot anniversary date tonight :) I can't wait!

Happy Hump Day

Wow its wednesday already and I have been waiting for this wednesday a long time. For a couple of reasons, 1. I don't have work at the school for the next 5 days. Yup 5 days. and 2. This weekend we will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary. Yup 1 year!

In some ways I can't believe it has been that long and in some ways it feels like a life time. I know that we have had a extrememly fun, extremely rough one year but I wouldn't trade it for anything. This year my husband Bobby and I have become so close. Its crazy how trials can either make or break a couple. I am glad that in our case the trials we have been through have made us SO much stronger as a couple and as individuals. For that I am thankful.

I'm excited to see what the next 80 years have in store for us. But for now I'm excited to see what this weekend has in store for us. (Gear Grinder: Bryce Canyon is booked solid all weekend.)

P.S. Another exciting thing about today is its my half birthday! 6 more months :)

The Gift of Internet

What an awesome day! I have internet in my own home which means:
  • I don't have to creep around looking for unprotected internet
  • I can finally stop using the germ infested library computers
  • My housework will soon become neglected
  • The blog world will get to hear from me TONS more
Also just an added bonus. I have a blu-ray player.
Just because I was in wal-mart going to buy my husband an Anniversary gift and some groceries.
Well if your in wal-mart you have to check out the electronics (just for fun) Anyway,
I ended up ditching the cart and buying a blu-ray player instead. I LOVE it. I don't know
how I lived without it. And really who needs groceries?
